The Cry of Shadows is first and foremost a personal project, one that concerns and involves both the individual and the community. The shadows represent us—men, women, and children—inseparable regardless of their origin, ethnicity, gender, age, or social class. These men and women experience daily physiological, environmental, and developmental needs. These needs, depending on the socioeconomic and cultural context, are expressed differently by each Mauritanian.
